Urban Jungle – Sharing our city with our wild neighbors

In Bern, the students of the Master in Theatre at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri discover hidden spaces in the “Tramdepot”, an old tram warehouse transformed into a place of art and culture.

Beginning April 3rd, the students tackled a workshop in the space of the “tramdepot”, working in the atmosphere of the urban jungle and with contemporary works of art – wood structures from the Berlin artist Hans Schieb and paintings and installations of Christine Elbe, the curator of the space – and later produced publicly in site-specific performances, on Friday the 7th of April at 18:00 and on Saturday the 8th of April at 12.00.

The theme of the workshop, led by the choreographer and ballerina Lucinda Weaver, is the composition of space and time: moving among sculptures, paintings and vegetation, the students are confronted with a working space transformed into a jungle; an urban jungle becomes a workplace.
