Are you ready to immerse yourself in the artistic universe of Claire Cunningham?
On 1 May at 4.45 p.m. in the Aula Grande of the Accademia Dimitri, you will have the opportunity to attend a unique performance.
This performance will take place as part of CAS Performing Arts and Inclusion, but is open to all who wish to attend and be involved in the artistic expression of Claire Cunningham, one of the most acclaimed and renowned disabled artists in the UK and internationally.
During the event, Claire will share with the audience the development of her career, focusing on the transition from finding the connection between her crutches and her body, to the importance of how her crutches connect her to the world around her.
Through her personal and unique movement technique, called Quanimacy, Claire will illustrate how she is influenced by the use/misuse, study and distortion of her crutches. Rejecting traditional dance canons and techniques created for non-disabled bodies, Claire will also discuss how her work is influenced by her lived experience of disability and its impact on society's perception of knowledge, value, connection and interdependence.
This informal event offers the audience the opportunity to feel at ease. Sign language interpreters, audio descriptions, subtitles and a variety of seating options are usually available to ensure accessibility for all. Don't miss the opportunity to participate in a unique and engaging artistic experience.
