Dance Repertoire with Andrea Herdeg and the 3rd Year Bachelor Students
January 29, 2025, 6:00 PM – Aula Grande
🎟️ Free entry
The Accademia Dimitri is pleased to invite you to a special cultural evening dedicated to dance, its history, and its great masters. 💃🕺
This event will feature third-year Bachelor students who will present excerpts from historical choreographies, learned as part of their dance program. Each student was tasked with selecting and learning a choreography created before 1980 by a renowned dance master. Why historical choreography? Because understanding the traditional repertoire is essential for every artist, even in the context of Physical Theatre, to enrich their training and connection with the past of dance.
During the evening, students will perform their short excerpts, followed by a reflection on the challenges they faced and how the work of these pioneers continues to influence contemporary dance. Andrea Herdeg, who will guide this session, will briefly introduce the choreographers of the selected pieces and the process that led to the selection of each choreography. 🎭✨
At the end of the performances, there will be time for a dialogue with the audience: a unique opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes of the creative process, ask questions to the students and the instructor, and deepen the connection between historical and contemporary dance. 💬👀
The evening, conducted in English, promises to be a fascinating journey through the history of dance, with a look at the future of the performing arts practice.
Dancer, choreographer, and highly experienced instructor, Andrea Herdeg lives and works between Zurich and Locarno. After training at the Accademia Dimitri and the Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, she has been working as an independent artist in contemporary dance and dance theatre since 2000. She founded the company herdeg&desponds and has collaborated with companies in England, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. She is regularly invited to choreograph for theatrical and site-specific productions, and since 2003, she has been a faculty member at the Accademia Dimitri.
