Meˈdeːa
Leonie Stalder

In Euripides’ tragedy, Medea betrays her homeland and kills her brother for the love of Jason. When Jason, in turn, betrays her to marry another woman, she murders their own children as an act of revenge.
In more recent adaptations, however, Medea’s character becomes more complex, and her actions are no longer portrayed as mere vengeance.
The Mēdeːa project is an attempt to give voice to Medea, offering her the opportunity to tell her own story—how she came to commit such a crime.
Not to justify the act, but perhaps to make it more comprehensible.
