Vampire toi-même !

Gratianne Lagauzère

Vampire toi-même !

et dans mes songes
Par la fenêtre descendait Musidora,
Ma belle souris d’hôtel un
Rayon de lune en collant noir …

This is how Louis Aragon wrote in his poem Chagall à la quatre-vingtième neige.

Who remembers Musidora today?
Aside from a few cinephiles with a fetish for bodysuits, the woman once considered a silent film star and a muse of the Surrealists has fallen into oblivion.

And yet, our subconscious easily recognizes this agile black-clad figure, balancing like a tightrope walker on the rooftops of the city. A hint of Catwoman? A costume reminiscent of bondage? Something about her silhouette still reaches us.

As Musidora herself used to say: «Les muets vous parlent.»
What do they have to say to us?
