Maria Sofia discovered her passion for theater during the Palio Teatrale Studentesco in Udine, thanks to her encounter with director Daniela Zorzini. The first play she performed in was an adaptation of Antigone by the Living Theatre, a company that sparked her fascination with the living body on stage. After finishing classical high school, following her interest in literature and journalism, she enrolled in Modern Literature at the University of Bologna. Alongside her studies, she continued seeking theatrical contexts that resonated deeply with her. She encountered Magnifico Teatrino Errante and Teatro Nucleo, experiences that made her realize she wanted to pursue her passion professionally.

After an Erasmus exchange in Paris at the Performing Arts department of Paris 8, she arrived in Verscio for the CAS Diversity and Inclusive Practice in Performing Arts. There, she discovered the Accademia Dimitri and applied for auditions, submitting a motivational letter in which she wrote: because I want to dedicate myself to it completely, body and soul / with the same devotion as monks in convents.
