Demis Quadri
Professor of Research and Teaching in Physical Theatre, Head of Research and Services, Professor of Theory and History of Theatre
He graduated in Italian Language and Literature, Romance Philology and Ethnology at the University of Fribourg. He earned a double doctorate in Italian Language and Literature and in Theatre Studies at the Universities of Fribourg and Bern. In the academic year 2006/07 he was a member of the Swiss Institute in Rome. From 2005 to 2009 he collaborated on a research project on the commedia dell’arte with the Institute of Theatrical Studies in Bern. In 2010 he collaborated for some teaching modules with the Haute école de musique in Geneva. He participated in the publication of an edition of the seventeenth-century Scenari più scelti d’istrioni under the direction of Stefan Hulfeld and winner in 2014 of an prize awarded by the Rectorate of the University of Vienna. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Swiss Society of Theatre Studies, of the Federal Performing Arts Jury and of the Elisarion Cultural Commission. Among his main research topics are commedia dell’arte, physical theatre and applied theatre. Among other publications, he is the author of an article that aims to define the term “physical theatre”.
